Is there an issue with splinter cell?

I have the latest patch.

I try to start a mission, and it loads fine, but when you click fire to actually start the level, it crashes. When it reboots, windows says that it crashed because of the 8500 drivers... wtf? does this with ALL the driver sets btw.

I have changed resolutions, detail settings, etc. to no avail.

This is on a fresh install of xp pro btw. Also, other games run just fine with the 3.4's.. no crashing or instability...

EDIT: I underclocked the card to 250/250 and no more infinite loops, per suggestion of other people having the same problems.. works fine now in all games just slower than it *should* be, but not by much (he won't miss it :))

Most of the time the infinite loop is because the power supply isn't strong enough. You may want to try this
it's a hacked cpu to agp driver for via chipsets infinite loop fix
Try different 4in1's

I am having the same problem. I spent big bucks on a PC power and Cooling Turbo- Cool 510. That should be plenty of power. Any other ideas? Don't mean to hijack this post, but it sounds like my problem, and sounds common. We should be able to figure this out without losing performance. I hope.
