So after hearing about the game's awesome co-op mode, I wanted to jump in on this one. But then my buddy and I run Windows 7 Beta.. and then it makes me sad because it seems like this game has issues with it. There was hope since I saw that the game works in Vista.

At first I was going to assume it was a starforce issue because that thing is just nasty, but then I downloaded the demo and it has issues. Double click the exe to run and you just get a black screen. I attempted to run it in compatibility mode but it crashes.

Anyone got this game running on win7?

Report it. There's a reason it's still in beta. The more bugs you can find the better it'll be in the end.

If its 64bit Vista or 64bit Win7, the only way to get it to work is with a crack. I am not advocating using one, but I have the game also, and I know this is true.

Nothing that is Starforce protected is going to be on my computer. I bought Chaos Theory when it first came out. I had sense un-installed it because of Starforce (and also got rid of the Starforce drivers) and then later purchased it again, this time the downloaded version which does not have Starforce in it. Might try going that route if you really want the game.

Yeah...if you have a retail legal copy try downloading a copy, it's not illegal at that point...search on Mininova.org..."dopeman chaos theory"...this copy worked for me, its a highly compressed version. It unrars to the full game and has no starfuck protection. Should be good to go!

I bought the downloaded game directly from the Ubisoft website. I just ate the loss of the retail CD game I had previously bought. If I remember right, the download version was something like $20.

It was worth it to me cause I really liked the game (and still do), no more cd in drive to play, and more importantly, no more Starforce. I will not buy another game with that crap in it.

This was a fantastic game. It's a pity that they messed it up with the Starforce junk. A crack will get around it easily though.

Can you link to prove this? If you own a legal copy it is no problem to download a back up copy...if you can make a back up you can sure as hell download.

Except the DMCA made it possible for copyright holders to specify exactly how the product is distributed. They can now limit it to DVD/CD only and prosecute if you use the internet to share it or transfer it.

Blame congress.

Well, the most common method of attaining such things is through torrents. When you run a torrent, you are also uploading to other peers. You are not authorized to distribute the copyrighted content to other people. Thus you are committing copyright infringement, as are the others downloading from you.

Also, the people who are uploading the game to you are not authorized to share that content either and are also committing copyright infringement.

Yes, you are entitled to make a backup copy of the materials that you posses, but that does not also include the right to ascertain additional copies by any means you feel like.
