Splinter Cell Blacklist

This game is coming out on the 20th of this month, is anyone going to get it? Honestly I've never played a Splinter Cell game before, as stealth games don't interest me that much.

But this one seems very action oriented, so I'll probably pick it up. It's also a TWIMTBP game so it will have DX11 tessellation, HBAO, contact hardening shadows, TXAA etc.. Here are some trailers:

Looks pretty good! 😀

Splinter Cell: Conviction was also stealth/action, so you should check that out.

The earlier games emphasized stealth more (some even had alarm limits, ie 3 alarms = mission fail) so you might not like them.

I'd really consider Chaos Theory to be the pinnacle of the series. Some liked Pandora Tomorrow a lot, but I consider that the weakest entry. The original was very good, but is pretty dated at this point. Double Agent was only OK in my opinion...I always thought it was weird how it was a completely different game depending on what version you bought (PC vs. Xbox vs. xbox 360)

Edit: Oh and on the topic of Blacklist...haven't watched anything since the original gameplay video, but this will be a must buy for me. However, given the pace at which prices drop these days (and the backlog I currently have), I'm sure I'll wait until it's 10 bucks or so.

I understand why the wanted to semi-reboot the character, but I'm a bit disappointed Michael Ironside isn't in the game. I wasn't really too fond of Conviction either(too easy IMO).

What they're doing in this game seems to be mixing it up a bit. Seems like adding dogs is the hot new thing to do but they look well done here in this video.

Absolution slaps all the others away, if you go suit only that is. Try that and Splinter Cell might seem easy.

I haven't played Splinter cell since the original I don't think. Completely forgot they even kept making these.

I've always liked Splinter Cell, and I'm interested in Blacklist, but I'm not sure I'll blow $60 on it. I'll probably wait for a sale first.

You should check out Chaos Theory. Easily the best SC game ever made, and one of the best stealth games out there in general. The PC version holds up pretty well.

I have no interest in this game. Although I'm disappointed they've parted ways with Michael Ironside, I would still happily play the game if they were returning the series to its roots. Instead, it would seem as if they are doubling down on the action-oriented nature of Conviction.

Although I guess having more action helps to move more units, Splinter Cell was always more than just a 3rd-person shooter with neat toys. Emphasis on shooting and silly game-mechanics -- e.g., Mark & Execute -- means I won't be picking this one up until it's heavily discounted (and even then I might refuse to buy if only as a forlorn sort of protest).

I really liked last splinter cell: conviction and I'll be getting that blacklist for free since I bought my new video card 😀!!

Too bad it's not steam activate-able, it's on uPLAY.

It should tide me over till Rome 2 comes out!

Chaos Theory is still the best SC game. They've been dumbing it down and going with a more action oriented route since then and that's unfortunate.

Just picked up a code for $15 for the digital deluxe edition. Had to activate on Uplay of course, but it was smooth.

Haha oh I see most of the codes I saw were for 30 dollars and up. I'll keep looking. If you got the game already let me know how it is if you had a chance to play.

Will do, I left it downloading when I left home. Looks like the seller I bought it from had just 20 codes, I'm sure more cheap ones will pop up

It came bundled with Nvidia GPUs, so I'm sure you can get some on the cheap. I got one with my GTX760 a while ago.

Well, I've had about 5 crashes so far, all "Blacklist_DX11_game.exe has stopped working". Preliminary google-fu tells me it's related to multi-GPU usage. Some fixes here, on page 2, for those affected. Seems to be working for me so far.

I can't see what specs you have in your Sig on my tapatalk but I picked it up earlier today. Played maybe 20 minutes and it took me some time to get acquainted to the way you are suppose to play a splinter cell game. It took me around 10 min to figure out how to start single player lol.

I'm running it on 1080p on ultra with x16 option for aa or whatever it said in the options, I just glanced. I have not gotten any crashes yet. It's not as easy to sneak around, I could see how it can get difficult when the dogs come in.
