Splicing cables to make adapter cables

Would this work?

My current motherboard needs an 8 pin 12v connector (EPS I believe) for the CPU, but my PSU only has a 4 pin one. It's currently running fine with the 4 pin, but I'd like to avoid problems, so would two 4 pin 12v cables function the same as a single 8 pin 12v EPS cable thing? And would making a molex to 4 pin adapter using cables from a dead PSU be a good idea?

I looked online for adapters. . . $10+ for an adapter, ugh.

The system will be fine with just the 4 pin so don't worry about it. If the system needs the extra power it would be best to buy a new PSU. But it sounds like your having no issues so there is no need to try and make an adapter. You sure can make one if you want but i think the 2 connectors would have to be shaved down on the sides that face each other in order to fit.

I'm using an IP35-E and have an e2200 OC'd to 3 ghz, no problems so far, so I guess it is fine.
