google spirit airlines.

i would never ever ever fly with them regardless of how cheap the flight was based on everything i've read about them.

I don't have a ton of instructions/rules for my secretary... in fact, I think there' only one. If she ever books me on Spirit, she's getting fired. We have a tacit understanding.

I don't always fly, but when I do I avoid American Airlines.

Uncomfortable seats and shitty service. That's what I remember when I think of them. Anything more than a 3 hour flight there's no way I take American.

I've flown on Spirit to Florida several times. Never had a problem at all. They're no-frills, but decent.

Everyone has problems with every airline. Stuff happens.

If you're flying on spirit, make sure it's not connecting. Avoid connecting at Chicago O'Hare
Or flying into any hub when it's raining or snowing. You'll be automatically delayed/layover.

Spirit is the Ryan Air of the US. Think lowest possible service with a fee for everything.

non-stop DFW to orlando

I flew from Laguardia to DFW to Denver 3 weeks back. No delays at all.
Flew back from Denver delayed 4 hours -- Chicago O'Hare then delayed again after landing for aboout good 5 hours then made it to laguardia.

Flew this not by choice and wanted to avoid, but group I was traveling with all booked this so I had to book it.

Original bad experience so I wanted to avoid the denver trip using spirit.

Laguardia --> Ft Lauderdale --> Bahamas no delays
Bahamas --> Ft Lauderdale --> 8 hour delay --> Laguardia

Honestly I would avoid it as much as possible, but if it's uber cheap compared to others~ it's not terrible as long as no delays. If it's company paid, i'd take another airline. If you're paying out of pocket then it's worth considering.
Some of the stewardess are cute.

Never flown Spirit, but I have flown American Airlines. My experience was about the same as when I fly Delta or United. I prefer to fly United cause they have the most convenient location at both Hartsfield and O'hare, but American hasn't let me down.

American Airlines own old aircrafts.
One of my hobbies - Taking pictures of aircrafts - these are some of mine.
I've noticed, American Airlines aircrafts are pretty old.
Best american airline is Jet Blue - 4 Star rated airline

Spirit Airlines - rated as 2 Star airline

could you elaborate what makes them bad?

I flew Spirit when I went to Vegas.

They basically broke up the ticket price into as many different fees as possible.

Want a drink or in-flight meal? give us money
Want a pillow or blanket? that's extra
Want to check in a bag? That'll cost you.

If it wouldn't have added too much weight I'm almost sure they'd have coin operated window shades.

spirit charges for everything including carry on bags and drinks. Has terrible seats and its always overbooked.

It's cheap as hell for a reason.

I flew Spirit from Chicago to Las Vegas. It was one of the worst flying experiences I have ever had. I'm only 5'10" and I was the most cramped I've ever been on an airplane (and that was with an isle seat). It's absolutely no frills. You will pay for CARRY ON luggage.

Look them up. You will reconsider Spirit as soon as you read anything about them.

Spirit is the lowest cost airline out there. If you dont have bags, print off your boarding pass and dont eat or drinks. It is extremely economic. My dad flew to Ft. Meyers twice and Dallas once from Minneapolis. Total bill for all three flights was 221 bucks.

Fly Spirit if
- the flight is direct (or risk missing connection due to delay)
- less than 3 hours (cause that's all I can stand on the cheap seat)
- one single carry on backpack that fit under your feet (fees for add'l carry on or if you have to put it overhead, not even a extra purse as they're strict about it)
- pack your own water/snack (fees for anything edible)
- don't mind random assigned seat likely in the middle between 2 fa...I mean small sized challenged people (fees for assigned seat if you want aisle or window)
- print boarding pass at home (fees to get pass at airport)
That's the price you pay for dirt cheap fare, I paid $67 for one-way from Tampa to DFW, not even SW can beat that.

If you're going to be traveling a lot based out of Dallas then American is a no-brainier since the hub is there. If you fly enough you'll also get status through the ff program.
