Good news for SpinRite users. Gibson Research has just released the long-awaited version 6.0 - works in NTFS, Linux, XP, and other stuff. It creates a viable bootable tool on floppy, Zip, LS-120, CD (has ISO Image all ready) or other removable bootable drives. If you have SR 5, it is only $29.
For checking out your HDD, it is great. It also has the same old levels of inspection and sector analysis, and it can halp with drive surface problems. It is a fast download (written in Assembler, it is very compact). The manual is not yet finished, but will be in PDF format when it is available. However - I used it this morning and there is no need, really, for documentation. It is pretty straight forward.
