I have two hard drives, one is a newer IBM 75whatever it is 40gig, and the other is an ooold maxtor 10gig. The maxtor has become pretty loud with age. I was wondereing if I can just spin that one down, since I use it for long term storage, and don't access it very often. I'm using WinME. My ears will thank you.

Put the one you want to turn off on occasion in a mobile rack. They you have a simple key switch for it.

Or . . . you can install a "Trios" IDE switch in a spare 5.25 bay.

Think I can just put a switch on the molex connector? Turn it on or off before I turn the PC is turned on.
