Its almost certainly a Wolf spider & is actually very unlikely to bite you unless you pick it up with bare hands, also even if it did get ahold of you, it wouldn't do any serious damage.

They are actually very beneficial, eating many pest-insects & the best bet would be to let it go outside despite its scary appearance.

Perhaps but they JUMP. If that jumped on me it would get 5W+ of 532. Think of the death rays coming out of the tripods on War of The Worlds. :laugh:

EDIT: If you have it in a jar add a cricket or two. Crickets can do a number on a spider.
