Question about Venom...

I thought Venom was the fusion of the alien symbiote and Eddie Brock, played by Topher....

however, when you look at the trailer, Topher does not look bulked up at all, he still looks like the skinny dork from that 70's show, which would mean Venom does not exist yet.

I think Spiderman will humiliate Eddie Brock this movie and cause his life to go to hell. Which means venom won't show up until the 4th movie.

I just don't see them doing the movie right by cramming the venom story in the 3rd movie...

To get uber-technical about it, Venom is only supposed to be big because after Eddie's life went in the toilet after the whole debacle with losing his job with the Sin-Eater debacle, he became an obsessive weightlifter and basically pushed himself up to Olympic level/Governator level. As time's gone by, artists have started drawing Venom the size of a ****ing house instead of remembering that it's still a SKIN-TIGHT costume, alive or not. As to Topher, he's supposed to have bulked up a little bit, but going by the trailer he's a photographer for the Bugle instead of a reporter for some other newspaper, so I guess Raimi's going for an "Evil Peter Parker" when he turns into "Evil Spider-man". It doesn't matter how big the actor is, Eddie+alien=Venom.

yup, I think at the end of the 3rd movie, we will see the birth of Venom. Which means Spidey 4! :D

I'm actually wondering if they are going to go the alien symbiote route for Venom in the movies. I'm not sure if introducing aliens is going to be the route that Raimi wants to take with the Spiderman movies. I'm wondering if it will be more like the Ultimate line of Spiderman comics where Venom came from a failed genetics experiment performed by Parker's father.

That what it is looking like right now. 3rd movie is Spiderman fighting with himself/the symbiote suit. 4th movie is Venom.

Damn, Spider-Man has been the most exciting series of movies I've seen in years

I'm sorry, but nothing will ever out-weight LOTR.

Especially not these movies. I've been very disappointed with these crap-tastic chick-ficks.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER** (only if you're not familiar with the spiderman story line)

As I was watching the trailer, I was wondering how Spidey was gonna get rid of the symbiote, I mean it's not like they're gonna bring in the Fantastic Four for this one. Then I noticed that they give it away in the trailer...it happens when the bells are ringing and peter is pulling the suit off his body.

I know, I know, not really a spoiler, but I didn't wanna mess things up for people who hadn't figured it out yet

Yup, pretty much. But don't all the contracts for stars only go through the 3rd movie? Hopefully they get resigned.

That's pretty much straight from the 90s Spiderman cartoon. Another example of what I was talking about with the trailer giving away the entire story.

The bell thing was from the comic book, actually, after the symbiote broke out of storage in the FF building and attached itself to Peter again.

C'mon, guys... I saw the trailer at a theater months ago. It's venom, the whole internal battle thing.

I didn't know that, I was always under the impression that the bell thing happened first, but it was the FF that took care of it for good

yeah i seem to remember that peter used the bells first. then it tried to re-atach to peter. then FF was able to capture it (for a while heh).

since peter got the suit in the Cosmic wars (i think). hmm

edit: nope i was wrong.

from here

"This all came to an end when Spider-Man discovered his nifty new threads were actually an alien symbiote trying to bond to him permanently. Mr. Fantastic separated the two with his "sonic blaster" and captured the symbiote for study. It should be noted that during the period that Spider-Man wore the alien costume, there was evidence that the symbiote somehow fed on his adrenaline. The costume escaped and rejoined Spider-Man briefly, but the hero tried to kill the symbiote using the noise from a church's bell tower. The plan worked too well, and the symbiote saved Spidey's life before hiding itself in the church."

it was during the secret wars. so Mr. Fantastic did seperate them first then peter used the bells to finily do it.
