Spiderman 3 PC-DVD Won't Run

Has anyone got this game to run. There's nothing like shelling out $$$ for a new game that won't even start. I double click the icon on my desktop and nothing happens.

Things I've tried:

1. Auto starting the DVD and hitting "Play".
2. Double clicking the desktop icon.
3. Clicking on the "Game.exe" from within the directory.
4. a no-cd crack

Help!

Here are my specs:

Windows XP (sp2)
Athlon 64 3400+
XFX Geforce 8800GTS (640MB) w/ latest drivers (158.22)
1.5 GB DDR RAM

Try the disc on another computer to make sure it's not a defective disk.

Do you have any emulation software like AnyDVD installed on your PC?

No- no emulation software.

No other computer powerful enough to play it. Game has some pretty hefty requirements.

Activision Tech Support had me try a number of things. Finally, he had me disconnect all my USB devices (of course, I could,'t unplug my mouse & keyboard). It works now!
