I saw Spiderman 2 this afternoon and I thought it was awesome. The Peter Parker/Mary Jane romance was the best part for me. I sense so much longing whenever Mary Jane looks into Peter Parker and asks him if he wanted to say something. I can relate to Peter longing for a girl but not being able to tell her his feelings so much.
And the ending was so beautifully done, it was almost poetic -- tears actually flowed down my cheeks. Very few movies have done this for me. I usually get teary but not enough for tears to actually flow down my cheeks. I notice that I tend to get emotional in scenes when characters declare their love for each other.
And this movie addresses the romance of superheroes in a way that I have always wanted to be addressed. I hated Superman 2 because it denied Clark Kent/Superman a love life. I have always thought that no man can be successful without the love of a woman behind him and that it was possible to have love and also be a superhero.
