This movie is going to rock so hard. Have you guys seen the new trailer? A few interesting shots I saw.. a) Spider crawling on a big web towards Mary Jane b) Knocked out Spidey with no mask being carried by the crowd mosh-pit style and c) Spidey's suit ripping due to something odd (Start of venom perhaps?) ...

Probably see that tommorow if it is, and Spiderman the week after that :)

It was pretty funny - Everyone I talked to told me that it was hilarious.

I dunno that I'd go that far about it, but it was definitely a cool movie, I dunno bout $8.75 though~

Yes, I think it just might.

It's getting stellar reviews- better than the first. Already being called the best Superhero/Comic movie ever.

Yeah, the comparison I've heard is Spidey 2 is to Spidey 1 as X2 is to X-Men 1. Having said that, I'm trying to brace myself to not be overhyped.

It's weird - they really haven't hyped Spiderman 2 as much as you would have expected. The first one I saw trailers for months in advance. It's less than a week and I'm only now beginning to see trailers.

I remember the very first original trailer debut was around august of 2001, a few months before the first one came out. It involved bank robbers and them escaping out of a helicopter, Spiderman then creates a huge web inbetween the world trade towers and the copter gets stuck in the web.

Then 9/11 happened and sony recalled everything that had to do with the original marketing plan which involved the towers heavily. The original posters and banners had an reflection of the towers in spidermans eye (like the new ones do of doc oc), and if you are able to find one of these they are extremely rare collectors items as I read sony destroyed all the materials that were returned to them. I wasn't able to get the banner but I do have two posters. Working in a theatre does have its perks.

Edit: oh and the new one wont come near breaking the firsts record.. the first one had impeccable timing when it came out. The biggest movie that had been released was 2 weeks before Spiderman came out (it was Scorpion King) and people were just thirsty for a movie to see. The release date had no competition at all 2 weeks before or after (Until star wars later that may) and it was the movie to see for awhile. I can remember our theatre being sold out all day saturday and most of sunday on friday which had never happened before (or even close to happening.) It was just a great mix of everything coming together at once.

I dunno, I've seen TV ads for it for months now. They had the theatrical trailer on TV during The Apprentice finale and in the last month or so, I've seen 2-3 different TV spots for it. I haven't seen many movies in the theater lately, so I can't say how often it pops up there. I can see your point, though. Seeing as it's a sequel to one of the most successful movies ever, it's not as omnipresent as you would expect, but maybe they're afraid of burning people out on it.

The lamest promo for it that I've seen was when I went to Safeco Field to watch the Mariners on Spider-Man 2 Night. They had a guy in the worst costume ever shooting silly string into the crowd while giving away Spider-Man 1 dvd sets.

Anyone else try to avoid seeing trailers for movies they are excited about seeing already?

I have yet to see this new trailer, and hope to avoid seeing it. The first has spoiled the movie enough. I accidentally saw that spider trailor for RoTK and was pissed. I was just watching TV, then it says "Lord of the Rings" and bam! I'm in the middle of some spider action! I didn't even have time to shut my eyes.

I want the stuff to be surprising. Although at least it doesn't sound like one of those trailers where I go "Well, I know everything that happens in that movie and have seen all the best action sequences ruined, no reason to see that."

I can't wait to see this movie. It sounds like its going to be even better than the first, and I loved the first.

I have talked to a couple of people who have screened it, the thought it was better than the first movie.

So, 12:01 Wednesday morning it is.
