These huge sons of bitches have been popping up all over South Florida. Have never seen them before this year. And yes, this picture is completely to scale. The spider is about 8 feet tall and laying waste to the liquor store. It's actually about the size of the palm of my hand, but the thought of masturbating with the spider is not really appealing.

WTF are these? Where did they come from? And does someone have a nuke that happens to be in orbit right about now?

Used to see these all the time when I lived in Mississippi. They make very large webs and catch pretty large prey. I always assumed it was some form of garden spider.

Looks like a spider crawled on top of a picture of a building.

It's web is hanging between some hedges and a tree branch between Applebees and the liquor store. There was a second, even larger one, like 10 feet away:

Yep, golden orb weaver. Pretty good at catching bugs. Just be glad you don't live in Australia....

Yup Golden Orb Weaver . We have them all over south Alabama. Huge one in my backyard. I was told people also call them writing spiders.

I'm still having a tough time sleeping due to finding a wolf spider with like 30 babies crawling on it right inside from my bedroom door.

I found a retarded field mouse the other day... it was running in circles. I caught it, but it died. :( Apparently, running in circles is a sign of a neurological issue.
