So I was cleaning out some stuff in the back yard left there by a previous owner of the house I'm in, and came across this little guy. Anyone know wtf this is? It moved pretty quickly and definitely didn't like the light. He was on a board when I found him - I kept turning the board over so he was on top, but he would then crawl back underneath almost immediately.

Poisonous? It looks kind of nasty, but I don't know...i'm curious because with the weather improving, we're probably going to be having lots of cookouts and stuff back there, and I don't want anyone being rushed to the hospital with freaky mutant spider bites. :(

EDIT: fixed link

I hate those spiders because they are pale, red, and hide under things. My toes curl every time I see one. Fuck those spiders, man.

Speaking of spiders....... for those of you that remember the pics of the huge Black Widow I posted last year, I have another one that's living on my garbage bin this year. It's about 1/3 the size of the one last year.

Picked up some crickets along with a small plastic type container. It'll be her new home soon with an all she can eat buffet ;)

Will take some pics later this evening.

It looks like a red ant's head stuck on a peanut. I've never seen one of those, guess they aren't too abundent in Wisconsin. I have seen plenty of cows here, however. :)

Well, I was going to point out the rather fat one sitting on your shoulder but since you're so mean to spiders, I wont! :p

So...wood louse spider. That makes sense, since the place I found him had a billion of them crawling all over everything. Along with plenty of centipedes and other unpleasant critters. I guess that's what I get for cleaning out a cast-iron bathtub from the WW2 era someone left in the woods behind my house for who knows how long. Although it did turn out to make a fantastic white-trash fire pit for the party afterwards. :)

Well, good to know they aren't harmful at least. Maybe if I find another one, I'll capture it along with some king-size pill bugs and have me a lil' cage match

Thanks to all who identified this thing!

Here are the ones I posted last year. I'll make a new thread and snap a couple pics of the new Black Widow later.

Here's a pic of the big Horsefly I caught for the Widow so you can see the size relation :)
