From the leaked emails, it showed the talks failed so it doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon.

That sucks. Another Spiderman reboot from Sony is going to be terrible. But, considering the only thing Sony makes money on anymore are the PS4 and Spiderman movies, I can see why they are doing it.

Well they are going to start a while Marvel type series with Spiderman and even X-men soon so it was to be expected. I'm sure if the newest second Spiderman did well they probably would have kept him on for the new movies.

How many times must we watch an Uncle Ben die?

wait for Disney to revive uncle Ben next year.

Refresher course:

the 3 things that the two major comic book companies said they will NEVER do:
1) revive Bucky (who became Winter Soldier)
2) revive Jason Todd (Robin #2)
3) Revive uncle Ben

then they got bought out

Wha?!

what happened to the Sinister Six arc?

That was always bait to lure people into see the Amazing Spiderman movies. I don't think they ever intended to make it.

Disney seriously just needs to drive a dump truck of money to Sony's doorstep and buy their rights back. Or they could loan out the InfoSec teams to assist Sony. I hear Sony has issues with security.

Yet another remake of a hero with dark brooding, troubled past, revenge or not, self-guilt filled trip? Yawn, boring uninspired crap. Gimme more movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, X-men DOFP and Edge of Tomorrow, thank you very much.

I liked the two Amazing Spiderman movies. I thought Garfield did a better job than Maguire.

My perspective: emotive, nuanced-Tobey Maguire was so vastly superior to one-dimensional flat Andrew Garfield that they're praticaly not comparable...like comparing a deep, multidimensional real actor Maguire to a cardboard one-dimensional wannabe Garfield.

In addition, although I don't think Kirsten Dunst is even up to average in the acttractiveness department, Dunst at least comes across much better than Emma Stone, who plays an "attractive chick" who is, in these particular movies, downright hideous, looks like a pug dog or something.

Well said.

Further in my opinion Maguire was about as perfect a casting job for Peter Parker as could have been done.

I do however disagree about the hotness level of Kirsten Dunst ... I find her very attractive in addition to an very effective MJ. (personal taste)

Guardians of the Galaxy was one of my favorite movies this past year. One of the biggest reasons was it wasn't afraid to be fun. It wasn't supposed to be some super serious kind of crap; they wanted something fun, but action packed. And, it worked.

Spiderman has yet to capture any of that magic, IMO.

Also, Maguire is just crap. The only movie I've ever liked him in was Pleasantville. That was his peak.

Maguire was a much better Peter Parker than Garfield, though I think Garfield was a better Spiderman. Its a common theme with actors and super heroes, difficult to nail down both sides.

The first two Raimi/Maguire Spiderman movies were awesome though, easily some of the best comicbook movies ever made. They just gave up with Spidey 3, or the studio executives had too much creative input. And the Amazing Spiderman movies were primarily made only so Sony could keep the license, which is why they were both kinda terrible.

Yeah, I think you're right. And that's what I miss - the sarcasm. The stuff in Guardians was hilarious - the dance-off caught me off-guard at the end :D

Star-Lord: "You are building a BOMB on my ship?"
Rocket: "I was about to put in a box!"
Star-Lord: "What's a box going to do?"

The suits demanded Rami put Venom in Spider 3, so he did as obligated. But he didn't want to and it clearly shows in the film. Sam just wanted to stick with the oldschool villains. There was actually talks for a spider man 4 in which we finally would have gotten Lizard Man, but by that point Sony had gotten too pushy and the deadline they set with the demands they were making made rami too uncomfortable to continue.

I have not seen the 2 new ones but I have heard good things, I might check them out soon.

As far as the Rami ones I liked the first quite a bit. The 2nd was too over the top for me, the 3rd was garbage.

Amazing Spiderman 2 did the impossible and actually managed to outshit Spiderman 3. It copied that films most egregious faults, expanded upon them and shed off the few bright spots. To many villains. To many incoherent and barely connected plot lines. The script was just poor, with illogical and inconsistent motivations for all the characters and a nonsensical story. Spiderman 3 was bad, but it at least it had a few strong points like the sandman rebirth scene and the half aborted son of the green goblin storyline.

Amazing Spiderman 1 was a bland and unrequested offering, but was at least serviceable. Amazing Spiderman 2 collected as many hollywood names as it could and then filmed them all together as they took a collective dump on camera.

Honestly, Disney shouldn't pay a red cent for this franchise now. It was played out and pretty damaged at the end of Spiderman 3, but could potentially have been set back on track. After the last film however, the Spiderman franchise is becoming a symbol of hubris and incompetence. Another Amazing Spiderman movie from Sony and your average person will vomit at the mention of Spiderman in Pavlovian response.

Dunst was supposed to be Mary Jane, a gorgeous supermodel type girl. Snaggletooth is FAR from that.

Days of Future Past wasn't great, the other two we can have.

My biggest gripe with the spider-man stories is this mashup of stories from the comics. I wouldn't mind seeing an original story written for film, but that's hard to do as people want a story they're familiar with.

If anything I'd like to see them adapt one story line from one iconic spidey saga. Like Kraven's Last Hunt, Spectacular Spider-man #200, The death of Gwen Stacey (but do it right with Norman Osborne as the Green Goblin. You don't have to mess with that story. Its a classic and defines modern Spider-man)
