Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

So, I was poking around Amazon today looking at some upcoming games when I came across the new Spider-Man game due out in September: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for the XBOX 360, PS3, Wii and DS (will most likely not be the same).

I'll come out and admit that I'm not a huge comic book fan and that includes Spider-Man, but I watched a Gamespot interview (HD Link) and the game actually looks like it could be fun. I like how they bounce between different art styles for each level, but the only thing I would worry about is that I'd end up enjoying one level type more than the others and then the others would just feel like more of a burden than anything. There's some information on all 12 villains that will be available in the different world on the Wikipedia page that I linked above.

Any thoughts on this game?

I hope the developers don't eff this up seeing that this seems to be their first "major" game

Well, one thing I noticed is that they don't over-complicate webbing. You hit the button and you'll latch onto something or if you fall too far, you seem to use the double web "spring." Some may see it as too easy, but I guess it's kinda removing unnecessary complication from something that has to happen a lot.

this does look quite cool. If they do a good job i think it could be great. I haven't been interested in spiderman in a while but this may do the trick. i like the premise too.

Yeah, the neat thing is that with four different versions of Spider-Man, they're able to create a game that doesn't play the same way throughout. Noir is stealth, Amazing is agile/nimble, Ultimate is a brawler with the black suit, and 2099 I guess is kind of a cross between Amazing and Ultimate but can fly too.

Oh man, this was one of my 'surprise games' of the show. I like where they're going with it, especially in regards to the gameplay, and how each Spiderman sort of has its own little gameplay hooks.

The Spiderman I was most impressed with was the nior one. Not only did it look really cool aesthetically, it actually does this thing like The Satabeur where the Black & White has meaning. Here, its to let you know that you're in the shadows and hidden. When you're spotted by a thug, everything suddenly becomes colorful. Oh, and the B&W has a sort of degree (or saturation level) that varies due to your sealthiness.

The game graphically looked great too, and the framerate was already locked in running smoothly. No hiccups at all, looking very polished.

Got any questions? I can try to answer them for ya.

Personally I think the grappling hook mechanics of Just Cause 2 were solid enough to make me think it could be incorporated into a spiderman game pretty well and be awesome.
