I love hot and spicy food. I'm looking for unusual foods that people don't normally consider adding hot spices to, but that still taste wonderful.

Last night I created a recipe which has to be one of the best things I've ever eaten. However, it is unusual and I don't think many people would consider eating it. I was given some hot sauce which is basically habanero + molasses + some spices. I couldn't think of what I would want that would be spicy and sweet. Then I thought of honey baked ham.
[*]1 tbsp honey
[*]1 tbsp habanero/molasses sauce
[*]1/4 tsp mustard powder.
[*]3/4" thick ham slab, scored, and coated.
[*]350°F oven for 20 min.
[*]Recoat with more of the sauce, including carmelized sauce which hit bottom of the pan.
[*]350°F oven for 20 min.

By the way popcorn, ramen noodles, and mac & cheese all go great with crushed red pepper.

What other unusal recipes do you have?

spicey bacon wrapped shrimp!

spice rub:
1/3 sugar
1/3 oil
1/3 pepper mix of (black pepper, white pepper, cayenne pepper)

Get some good sized shrimp, wrap with 1/4 slice of bacon and secure on a skewer. Generously spice rub to the shrimp/bacon.

Cook over a grill (careful of the bacon catching on fire) until shrimp is done.

That sounds awesome, but I can never get bacon to cook the way it should be cooked, like it is in the restaurants. I either undercook it or make it soo crispy, it loses all of it's flavor.

Ok take your ham and instead of the honey use Yukon Jack premium canadian whiskey, about a cup or so. The sweetness of this whiskey will cook down to make a honey like glaze and the alcohol will carry it into the meat.

If you like that, try this:
Butterfly a bunch of shrimp, season with salt & black peeper, put 2 big slices of jalapeno (fresh, not pickled) on top (or just 1 if you have small shrimp), then wrap with bacon, skewer them and grill em up. They're amazing.

Along similar lines, I like to cut fresh jalapenos in half, fill with cream cheese, and wrap with bacon. A toothpick holds it together, and you put it on the grill till the bacon is done.
It's heaven.

And OP, just for future reference, it's "habanero."

Sounds good. And I can't spell anything. I looked up "molasses" on dictionary.com and got too lazy to look up any more words. It is edited.

Cajun ham

Take a huge pot and put a ham in there and fill it with water. Then take lots and lots of crawfish seasoning (I mean lots and lots, several bottles or bags or use both. you cant add too much seasoning, if you think you put enough dump some more in) and pour it in there and boil it. I'm not really sure on the time (its something like so long for every pound of ham or something like that but I can't remember), just cook it till it's done. Smells sooooooo good and omg the ham is so spicy and delish!

Makes the best sandwiches EVER.
