jeez..

why are people scared of being identified as sperm donors?
Uh....lawsuit....child support....etc. Is that so difficult to figure out?

being a sperm donor carries no legal obligations. you sign a waiver, as does the woman who gets the sperm.

Wasnt there a case not too long ago in AZ i think where a sperm doner got sued by the woman who bought his sperm?

Lets say 5 years from now the law is changed to say that sperm donors CAN be held responsible for child support. If they dont have your name anywhere, they cannot make you pay... if they have your name, you = screwed for the next 14 years or so.

For the meager cash incentive ($50 is the most I have heard of around here), the fact that you will likely be the father of at least one child and never meet them (which bothers at least some people), religious objections... etc, its not worth it for the type of people that they want to have donate.

wrong. protected by ex post facto law, which is forefront in pretty much every society's laws.

and in my view, you're not father of said child, merely a means to an end. the father is the wife of the woman who used the sperm you donated.

biological origin is irrelevant. if i had a wife, and i was sterile, if she used donated sperm, the child would still be mine, not the person who donated the sperm.

eh, morality is so conflicted for some people. this seems very clear-cut to me.

Agreed. But I still wouldn't want some stranger running around with my DNA. Hoping to save all that for my future wife.

😕

sorry.. there are too many circumstances to deal with.

assuming a wed couple cant have a child because the husband is sterile, then the husband is still the child's father.

assuming the woman doesnt have a husband and isnt aquiring one any time soon, then the child has no father.

assuming a couple, not necessarily wed, the father is the significant other who wears the penis.

eh, my dna, your dna, we're all 99.somethingorother % the same anyway, i dont view it as being that important.

assuming i donated my sperm, if i helped a person concieve who was in a relationship where they couldnt otherwise concieve, then more power to them.

you must not follow the news... there was a case in sweden a few months ago where a guy had to pay child support even though he signed the waiver and everything... the opinion stated it was *because* he was not anonymous. anyways, it's in sweden, but it's enough to make you think twice.

Ouch! ; )

I believe I qualify! *flexes muscles*

You missed the "good looking, smart" part... 😛

I think people are scared to be identified as donors because of what can happen in the future.
I am not talking being help responsible for child support. I talking about the child
wanting to meet her biological father. It happens all the time with adopted children.
Why they love their adopted parents, they want to find out who there biological parents are.

Now how are you suppose to react, if 10-20 years down the road, after you donate your sperm,
there comes a child at the door. She doesn't want money, she wants to meet you. Just to get to
know who her bioligical father is. Now whats is it going to be like if you, now have a family, are married
with 2 kids. How is your wife going to react. Now some might be able to say, piss off, I just jizzed in a cup
for money, but I think most people would feel guilty and would infact, end up allowing this person to be a part of
their life, emotionally.
Now I see that, as a problem.

I couldn't do it. Knowing I had a child out there somewhere but not knowing where or what they looked like, how they were doing, etc.
