You have to be pretty "desireable" for good money for a donation... i.e. well educated, good looking, athletic, smart, etc.
They will test you for genetic disorders, health problems, etc.
The money is egg donation. I looked into it, but the procedure is very long and drawn out, but payment can be upwards of 10-20k per egg.
Donor Eggs: I'm probably going to assume the long and drawn procedure is similiar to the stuff my wife and I went through while going through an IVF cycle..
* Woman takes Lupron (stops egg folicles from releasing) on first day of menstrual cycle
* About ten days later, woman then starts more various meds. that increase the numbers of egg follicles that are produced; also continues Lupron
* Constant monitoring by IVF specialists, measuring follicles daily, or every other day.. 18mm size per follicle is idea..
* Continue meds until idea size of follicles has been reached.. At this point, there may be more than a dozen egg follicles; Woman will be very irritable, hormonal, and bloated
* Once appropriate size has been reached from the egg follicles, egg enhancing meds are stopped.. Lupron is still took that day, but another (one time) med. is taken that will release all the egg follicles in uterus
* Woman goes in to IVF specialists and has all eggs retrieved..basically... lie down.. spread legs wide open, while specialists pluck and poke at woman's uterus to retrieve eggs
**edit**
All of the medications my wife took were injections. All in the stomach.. and in the middle of the cycle, I was giving my wife three shots a day; a human pin cushion....
