Downy has a bad area? Not accusing the OP of lying but I never found Downy to be much of a scary place.

Maria's Grill is located on the southern border of Downey and Paramount where a lot of the crime is at. Both cities have several active gangs. In response, Downey created Gangs Out Of Downey (GOOD).

On a side note, Downey is also the home of the oldest working McDonalds. It's the only McDonalds where you can still get a fried apple pie instead of baked. I used to bike there all the time after school.

Some years ago, I'd just moved to Colorado and was looking for something to do on a Friday night, hopefully find an interesting band to see. I saw something in the paper that caught my eye, so I drove to Longmont that night looking for a particular bar. Turns out the place was on the main drag, about ten doors down from the local turkey processing plant (yes, there was a turkey plant in the middle of town, which tells you a little about Longmont).

I got no more than ten steps into the place when the largest Mexican I've ever seen in my life appeared out of dark, cutting me off and asking me whether I was looking for something. Luckily, he was security. He instantly knew I was in the wrong place, and even though I was pretty naïve at the time, I got the message real fast.

I would really like to know where you went. I know where the old Butterball(or previous to that ConAgra) plant is - which was built in 1950 before the city grew over it, has since closed and be re-zoned for non-industrial.

Currently across the street from that is an Asian food market, other nearby places of interest are a local brewpub, dinner theatre (currently running Les Miserables), a chain Mexican restaurant, and the local Enterprise and Hertz lots.

The only place near there I could think of you would be looking for music is Dicken's Tavern and Opera House - but I doubt that's the place you went.

I haven't been in Longmont in a few years, so I took a quick look using Google maps. On the same side of the street as the turkey plant, must have been the next block uphill toward the center of town.

I'm pretty sure this must have been the place:

I vaguely recall a smiley face on the front doors at one time, maybe called Happy Daze(?). Could be wrong.

Living on the east side of Fort Collins, if the wind is just right I get to smell Greeley's stock yards a couple of times a year. Luckily, the wind seldom comes out of the east around here.

I'm a pretty good marksman, I'll go with you next time. Provided that we get the shits to go.

Maybe we can arrange a range-date, where I'll ask my cousin to bring his two safes of weapons to the range.

Just wear your martyr vest and you should be fine.

BTW wouldn't the couple dozen motorcycles parked outside have been something of a tip off?

Bunch of fat fucks looking at you?

What are you, a prison bitch?

Unless its Genghis Khan hisself, I wouldn't piss myself over ordering some fish tacquitos in their esteemed presence.

I don't get down to that area of town often, but next time I do I'll take a look at what's in there now.

A bunch of Harley's out front could also mean it's a wannabe group of HOG members

I used to work in Bellflower. During the day it is fine, night time it can be a little sketchy in areas.

I'll admit that I haven't been in that area in many years though.
