Not that there's anything wrong with a 2.5ghz P4, but I really question whether anyone actually needs one. What ind of software demands that performance?

Going to a lan party on Saturday and need it for some heavy gaming

Too expensive for 300 mhz... spend a little extra on the RAM and I will get there no problem

Why not get a cheaper processor and get a better video card then, like a radeon 9700? There aren't many games out there that require more then about a 1.5ghz processor right now.

I have a GF3... and the max resolution I run is 1280x1024 (17" lcd)
I don't want to dump 350 on a radeon 9700 at the moment... I would rather wait and see how the NV30 does and perhaps upgrade at christmas....

BTW, my current setup is a 1ghz T-bird w/ 384mb

The 2.53 should get you a damn good shot at 3 GHz, all you have to do is make it to 157/158 MHz & you'll be over the magical number.

That's well within the realm of PC2700, BTW, if you're having a hard time justifying the cost of PC3200.

I'd go for it, I plan on replacing my 1.8 @ 2.4 with a 2.53 @ something nice.
