I have $70 to spend on my computer. I am gonna upgrade the mobo (abit NF7-S), CPU (barton 2500), and ram (corsair 512MB DDR400), so don't tell me to upgrade those things lol. So here is my current box:

P3 500
Intel SX440BX-2
256MB PC100
ATI Radeon9000 128MB DDR
L&C 350W PSU (will prolly upgrade this with the money)
Pioneer 16X DVD
TDK 32/10/40X CD-RW (I know there is faster but this is fine for me - takes like 3 minutes to burn a 700MB cd, and not 1 coaster!)
WDC 80GB Special Editon (8MB cache) 7200RPM ATA100
SB Live! 5.1 (the mobo comes with a soundstorm chipset which is better than this so don't recommend a new one lol)
Linksys 100MPS Ethernet
Pinnacle PCTV PCI TV-Tuner/Capture card (cable, S-Video, and RCA inputs)
NewQ Platnium
ThermalTake Hardcano II
Logitech Internet Navigator USB Keyboard
Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical
Creative Inspire! 2600 2.1 speakers
HP Pavilion MX70 17'' (brand new so doesn't need upgrading - BTW its a great monitor!)
HP OfficeJet 600 (old lol but i doubt i can get a printer with built in scanner and fax for $70)

Here is what I have thought of:
Antec SmartPower 350W (SL350)
New speakers (prolly 5.1s but I havent looked at whats available)

What do you guys recommend? If it is a little over $70 thats ok. Thanks for all your help, Josh

+subscribe to this thread, i want to see this... haha

as for the corsair, i've read that the buffalo tech cl2.5 are better for price/performance ratio... you might want to look into that

PowerLeap IP3tL ($30)
Celeron 1.3GHz (256k cache) ($40)

You have a awsome chipset... why change?
When you get more money.. get a Firewire card and USB 2.0 (probably $50)

Yeah, but a Barton would kill that setup, and I have the money. Also, having PC100 ram sucks! And its only ATA33 (im like 99% sure about that), so that also causes a slowdown. But thanks for the opinions lol. BTW, the NF7-S comes with firewire and USB2 lol.

Power supply and a heatsink for the Barton.
Yeah I'll prolly get a new PSU, and ill see about the heatsink. I have heard the stock ones, and they are quiet enough for me. As i'm not gonna be overclocking (yet lol), the stock one should suit me.

Well my server has a TekRam board with the same chipset as my intel board, so i'm gonna swap out the server's celeron 333MHz (BTW NEVER put a celeron in a server...you have noooo idea) for my P3 500. But I'll tell you what, that this processor can hold it's own against my buddies Athlon T-Bird 1.33GHz (not AthlonXP), with 256MB PC133. I love my P3!

Just buy PC133, its the same price. I just paid $20 after MIR at BestBuy for a stick of AK-Byte 128MB PC133. I think that 256MB is $40 now. DDR is cheaper lol!

BTW, NEVER put a celeron in anything

Yeah pretty much! When it was used as a desktop (it was given to me lol), it was soooooooooooooooo slow with Windows 2000 that I had to use 98 (yuck!)
