spell check isn't working in xp w/ office97?

i've tried to turn it on but i get an error every time i try to use it. i mean't to say it won't work in outlook express. i've checked the box to check spelling before i send and it just says there's an error. any ideas? jer
 
I did not think outlook express could check your spelling? ButI have had a problem with word97 and spell checking b4.
