Yep my cheap speedtream that i was using as an access point just fell victim to a few power surges\failures we had due to the high winds we had in the last few days.Anyway i did a quick search and found some info but want to ask directly about the real world difference in getting the 802.11g 54Mbps and the 802.11g 108Mbps products.

Is there really that much advantage with these that are advertising the 108Mbps ? If so then thats great because I am mainly interested in speed between my home network and realize that my internet on the laptop will not speed up :)

I did find a link during my serach that jackmds had posted for a Dlink extreme bundle that looked pretty good. Are there any advantages or disadvantages in the different brands such as Netgear and Dlink that I should know since i am planning on ordering a router and card today.

Thanks
