Speedstream 5667 modem & port forwarding

Here's the situation: I have a Speedstream 5667 DSL modem. Behind that, I have an IPCop router. Now, I would like to set this modem up to forward any and all ports to my router. It is not doing this now, and here is how I know.

If I tell my router to forward a certain port to my computer, that port is still unusable even after I make the setting on my IPCop router. To truly forward the port, so that internet traffic can use it, I have to not only forward the port from my router to the correct PC, but I also have to forward the port from my modem to my router. This doesn't make a lot of sense right now - why should I have to tell the modem to forward stuff to my router, when I already told my router to forward stuff. Can I set this modem to some sort of bridge mode or something so that all info goes directly to my router, and then I can have the router - and ONLY the router - do port forwarding and whatnot?

Thanks in advance,

It sounds like your modem is working as a router. Check online to see if it can be
set up in bridge mode. (yes, that is what it is called)

Well, I tried switching it into bridge mode, but it says it cannot setup a 1483B/1483R connection on the specified VPI/VCI. I have entered the correct values and all... could my ISP be preventing my modem from using bridge mode? Or do I have to do something on my router first perhaps?

Looks like they broke the 5667. No reason given why.

My guess would be that it does not support the FBI Backdoor so they had to scrap it.

newer models only support a "routing" mode

The Efficient 5567 Ethernet/USB DSL modem is no longer officially supported by IgLou for use with our IgStreme ADSL service. Although we have hundreds of customers using this modem successfully, newer models only support a "routing" mode which requires significant reconfiguration to work with IgLou's service.
The 5667 supports both Ethernet and USB connections simultaneously from two different computers. This modem will work in a bridged-Ethernet configuration for use with real static IP addresses.

We have received reports that the 5667-003 does not work with our service. We are unsure as to why this modem doesn't work. Efficient's technical support department has been unable to tell us the difference between the model numbers either.
