So what's the fastest speed the cops have pulled you over for?

Argh, I just got my first ticket in over 5 years yesterday! Driving to San Diego from Los Angeles via the 15 fwy. The cop busts me while going downhill and honestly I didn't know how fast I was going till it was too late. He ticketed me for going 96 in a 70. It sucks cause other cars were going faster than me too. Well, I cant wait to see how much this ticket is gonna cost me...

ouch...96 in 70 could be a big one. i was ticketed at 88 in 65 (going downhill). it was ~250. I remember that the officer mentioned that he was following me for ~3-4 miles. Uphill was ~75mph, flat was ~80mph and downhill was ~89mph. He wrote 88 b/c on 89, it is a mandatory court appearance.

This was in SF Bay Area.

138 in a 70 between brunswick Ga. and Jacksonville Fl. Lucky I didn't spend the night in jail, still not sure how I avoided that. Still got the nearly $500 ticket though.

Never been pulled over

Not to insult you guys, but I am also not dumb enough to go 100MPH. I hit 100 once on a Highway hit the brakes and slowed to a nice safe 75MPH...that was enough. I am satisfied. I hit 100 in my lifetime, now I never ever have to do it again.

Got a pulled over for doing 75 in a 55 on I-94 but the cop wrote a warning for 66 in 55. I was really lucky because I just beat another equally lame ticket(35 in a 25) in court a few months early, otherwise I would have had 2 tickets instead of 0.

j/k of course.....and just for the record, 75MPH doesn't make it nice and safe, it's really the driver and his/her mental capacity to actually drive the car. There are drivers who can drive safer at 95MPH than others at 30MPH. Sadly, most people's mental capacity in America seems lacking these days, thus why there are so many stupid drivers out there.

Very true. I thought about putting "relatively" in parenthesis after 75.

I feel perfectly capable of driving faster and would love to, but I am not the only one on the road.

I would agree, also, that driving comes more naturally to some than others. First time I got in the car I felt right at home. First time I hit ice I had a bunch of passengers in the car- I didn't panic, in fact I instinctively counter steered and regained control. I love driving no matter what....ESPECIALLY on Vehicular Beach in the OBX :)

I wish there was a driving course. Where you got to do what you see on those Educational Video's. For instance, testing the car on various surfaces under various conditions. Weaving in and out of cones etc... (I would LOVE to do something like that)

-Kevin

(Oh and by no means are my saying I am a perfect driver. I have made my fair share of mistakes and had my fair share of close calls....I am just lucky that my poor decisions didn't hurt anyone or myself yet)

95 in a 65. Avoided fine/jail due to the officer's ignorance of the law. When going to court, the officer needs to bring along the radar gun's calibration certificate. It can be an original or a copy. The copy has to be a certified copy with a raised seal stamp. The officer brought a copy with an ink stamp. Just a slight deviation from the law in my favor. The judge said, "Mr. ****, you dodge a bullet today." This happened in Northern Virginia. Judges have been handing out jail time for such offenses.

about 7 years ago I got knocked off for doing 188km/h in a 60km/h zone...incidently I was trying to out run a police car after running a red light when I ran out of fuel.

I received 2.5 years disqualification of my licence, 150hrs of community service and a $580 fine.

I must note however that the 188km/h was recorded by police radar as I passed them...the did state that during the actual pursuit speeds of over 220km/h were reached by my car (a worked V8 Ford Fairlane)...but the 188km/h was enougth to keep me off the road for a while.

I was also charged with Driving in a manner dangerous to the public, Failing to stay in single lane of multi lane highway and failure to use left indicator when turning left....I always found it funny that they left out the fact that I had run a red light which started it all

7 years later I realise that what I did was stupid and I tend to drive a bit slower these days.

I got a 85 in a 40mph zone. I live in California, I had a provisional license and at the time I was only 16 so I couldn't drive after midnight or have anybody in the car with me under 18 (I was driving my date home from the prom at like 1am) so I got all 3 of those at one time. I was a stupid young kid.

And to that person who got stopped for doing 138 in a 70, you are lucky to even drive after that. Here in Cali, car impounded, jailed, license suspended immediately with of course a minimum 1k fine

31 in a 15 and it cost me 180 dollars. your will probably be a crap load more than mine.(not a school zone, but a park no one freakin uses). Ran a red light while spazing on the stick shift I barely knew how to use. two tickets in my life total

the cop who pulled me over for running the red light was a complete asshole. he assumed I was drunk and crap. "so, how much you had to drink tonight?" I told the truth that I wasn't drinking. I don't drink period, plus I was 17 at the time an it was a Wed night. Then he stood outside his car for 30 minutes doing onthing and looking at me.

ok, i have to say it...

we all know the real reason he wrote 88, if you were going any faster you would have already gone back in time.

lol, i'm glad you realize it and all, but...man, what a dumbass thing to do, just suck it up and take the red light ticket lol. did you really think you'd be able to outrun some cops, or that you'd lose them?

I had technically lost the cops when I ran out of fuel....it's just happens that they happen to continue at a slower pace looking for my car to see if I had crashed it somewhere off the side of the road...and behold there I was stupidily sitting in my car trying to figure out what to do next when I heard a tap tap on my drivers window.

The worst part was not being drag out of the car and hand cuffed but rather later on being laughed at by the cops for running out of fuel....I was on my way to a servo to fill up when I ran the red light.....I felt like an even bigger dumb ass when they brought that up in court.

I got pulled over for going 38 in a 25, I'm really pissed about it, because 38 IS NOT FAST. Especially for the conditions I was in. Just happened to be that time of the month. (cop was on his period , yes). But The fastest was 66 in a 45.
