Speeding ticket!!!!!!

you DO NOT deserve the ticket. Some locations have lowered speed limits for counties that need more revenue.

Good luck fighting it.

like I said above, it was a freaking joke! sheesh

404 - teh funnay not found

LOL, I have heard that same myth and was pretty sure it would never work otherwise everyone would be speeding and running lights without worrying about anythig other than the fee plus a few extra bucks.
Read the link anyway, quite interesting.

$180! jesus. along with that other guy who got a $100 ticket for going 5mph over, this is starting to make me happy about my last ticket (80 in a 55, $90). NY isn't so bad after all.

he asked me if there was any reason for my speeding and I said "not a good one" so in all honestly yes I did deserve the ticketa nd I am not crying over it.
Well, there's your problem. You didn't give a good enough excuse.

I suggest you try these in the future:

My wife is having baby
My dog is having puppies
I'm late for my wedding and my wife is in labor (good combination).
My father needs a kidney transplant.
I'm late for my driving exam.
et al.

i like it, there are so many miths' that people don't know what to believe , or should i say ,what is true and what is not . that 's great , don't know about the rest of the world ,but i have some inkling about works here( the us). my advice is, pay the ticket tuck your head down , and look humble when you walk out of the court room . forgive me when i try to shed a little light , it's not out of speculation ; however ,............. it might be, from personal experence .:light:

BillyBatson, I live in Miami and have been up and down Florida several times speeding and all and never gotten a ticket. From Key West all the way to Tallahassee.

Was wondering what county you got the ticket in?

....

this does teach me one thing though... to keep a better eye out 😛

-Well you should have TOLD him it should be 55. He'd probably whip out a can of spray paint right there and change it for ya, then chage the ticket to 6 over... that is if he doesn't rip it up because you were kind enough to notify him of the need to change the limit!

-As already pointed out, yes, you are crying over it, especially by saying "Just sucks". If you can admit you deserve the ticket, then you by no means have any reason to be off the hook for it, no matter what your occupation is, what you think the speed limit should be, etc.

-What exactly is it going to take to convince you to stop speeding, killing someone? I'm no angel when it comes to driving, but if there is reason enough to be pulled over, there is reason enough to believe that you are putting other people in danger.

Hi, I came upon this thread because I got my first ticket last week.

Does anyone have any experience with "trial by written declaration"? I read about it at ticketassassin.com, there is a 30% chance it will be dropped if the officer does not respond in writing by the deadline. And even if you're found guilty, you get another shot, this time to appear in person. If the officer does not show up then, then it's dismissed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

edit: I don't mind paying the fine, $175 (45 in 25 school zone), but it's the points on my record that worries me (jacked up insurance for the next couple of years). Also, I hope I can get traffic school in lieu of the points.

Okaloosa country in Fort Walton Beach

I don't know about other cities/states/countries, but I got a 90 at 60 in Austin, TX once (year 2000) in Travis County to be exact. I hired an attorney for $150. He took care of it. I didn't even have to goto court. Ticket off my record. My father had gotten one in the same city also and had hired the same attorney. He went to court with the attorney, but didnt' have to appear in front of the judge. He just had to show up and let the secretary see that he showed up. Damn good deal if you ask me.

Beats paying for the ticket / defensive driving / deferred adjudication.

I've done all, several times 🙂

But that was the last ticket I got. (2000) Too many before that. KNOCK ON WOOD!!

The officer will usually try to show up at court because they get paid while doing it; its sorta like paid leave. Thats how all the cops are around here at least. Try the trial by written declaration, my friend has done it with sucess.

Damn you're really out there. 😛

Osceola, St. Lucie, and Martin are notorious for freaking speed traps. :/

Hire an attorney and see if he can get you off the ticket.

Meh, I've gotten 4-6 tickets a year ever since I can remember. I just always manage to get them in different towns, so I always get deferred adjudication, so none of them are on my record. I got a ticket just last week. 82 in a 70 on hwy 287 by a Texas State Trooper. $130 fine. I had an attitude with him, laughed at his fine, gave him a hard time... whatever. I never lie and say I didn't do something. I'm usually an ass to to the cops (they should expect as much, it's part of their job) and I've never just gotten a warning.

Boohoo. I pay maybe $800 a year in fines. But I mean, 6 tickets a year, out of 365 days of hauling ass isn't too bad. Think of all the time I save.

Unfortunately, Texas is getting a point system in January of 2004, presumably because of people like me... Bastards.

II drive home on a sizable 3 lane highway everyday. Posted speed limit is 40 mostly because the road is technically still under construction. I do 50-55 every day home like every body else. Just trying to keep up with traffic. Now if I was the only one on the road I would slow my ass down, no rush.

But how can you not speed when every one around you including the squad cars are doing at least 50? Just don't know...
