61 in a 40 he says!!!! Pft I hardly call that speeding especially since the speed limit there should be 55 anyway! I hate Florida =\ or this part of Florida anyway lol I want to be back in my socal so bad!!!!!!!!!! Sure I haven't seen Miami yet (LATIN WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but LA suits my needs just fine.

Anyway yeah first time I have ever been pulled over by a cop, no priors or anything blemishing on my record, perfectly sober, I had the window down, car turned off, papers and license in hand, with both hands clearly in sight, I was polite, honest, yet I still got the $180 ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone keeps asking if I flashed my Military ID, I didn't but I have base tags on my car, gave him my current address which is on base so he knew and I sitll got the ticket!

he asked me if there was any reason for my speeding and I said "not a good one" so in all honestly yes I did deserve the ticketa nd I am not crying over it. Just sucks =\

this does teach me one thing though... to keep a better eye out 😛

You do realize that just b/c your "window was down, car turned off, both hands in sight, etc. etc." doesn't mean you are off the hook.

I don't know why people think that just b/c you do those things that you don't deserve the ticket.

...and it sounds like you ARE crying over it.

Actually the more apporachable you are the better the cop will treat you (most of the time)

If you keep your window rolled up, hands in your pockets, music blaring then the cop is gonna treat you like crap. Oh yeah, never tell a cop youll see him in court

i wish this other guy got a ticket yesterday here in socal. he was weaving in and out of the carpool lane at 90mph.

I've been told that if you have your license and registration ready for them when they get to the car, you're just asking for a ticket - you're pretty much saying "I know you pulled me over because I was definitely breaking the law" You're more likely to get a ticket than a warning. Be polite and turn the radio down. But, only get your license and registration out after they've asked for them.

Oh I'm not saying it doesn't help to do it, but it just seems like all these n00bs who get tickets expect to not get a speeding ticket if they do the said things above.

why would being in the military get him a break?
he broke the damn law, so now he has to pay for it.
60 in a 40 barely a ticket?

haha man.

Having everythign ready and prepared doesn't mean you'll 100% get out of the ticket but it has been known to help. It was even on 20/20 whent hey covered possible ways to get out of a ticket and those were a few of them just because it is easier on the cop, there is less of a chance of gettign his frustraited or impatient especially if he has had a long night, and shows you are tryign to cooperate. Didn't say it would get me off just that it would help.

Being in the military gets a lot of people a break especially in a town where 9/10 ppl pulled over is military. Many ppl in my squadron have got off on a lot of things just for being military, don't know why exactly but we do get helped out often I would say.

And like I said I did deserve it lol and the whole lesson that I "learned" was a joke =P

Wisconsin State Police never give anybody a break. It's practically a rule that if you get pulled over by them, you are getting a ticket. I have NEVAR heard of anybody being let off by them.

Maybe it should teach you to slow down.

No kidding...what a moron.

21mph over and he's b!tching he was barely speeding?

Be glad the cop didn't hit you with reckless driving. Usually 20mph over the limit is ground for one. Then you'll be paying $300+ instead of $180.
But definitely talk to the DA, at the very least they should have something to keep the points off since this is your first offense.

Some roads need higher limits. Just last night I was travelling a frequented stretch of suburban road marked at 30mph. I look down at my speedo and I was already at 52mph. WTF ?! And it was a flat straight-away with houses on the side streets only.

Oh yeah... the lesson learned is not to LOOK OUT for them... it's to friggin slow down. They fine you for a reason. I've had 2 tickets in the past and I never consciously go faster than the flow of traffic anymore. And you being in the military is not a license to speed.
