Speeding ticket question

Long story short, I got caught in by a speed trap in hillbilly Wisconsin. Ticket was for 10 over. I live in Chicago. My question is does wisconsin reort this to IL? Will it go on my record? The cop mentioned something about points, but we dont have that type of system in IL. I am not terribly worried, but am surely curious.
 
10 over can't be too much, just pay it, the points will not go against your insurance since IIRC most insurance companies don't receive reports of out-of-state tickets. However, if you don't pay the ticket, they will put out a warrant for you - this was mentioned in a previous speeding thread which I cannot find at the moment.
 
I'd guess that your insurance company would find out about it either way.

Here in Michigan, a new law just took effect where if you're an out-of-state driver and don't have a local address, the police officer is required to SEIZE YOUR LICENSE and issue you a temporary Michigan license until you pay your ticket. At that point, you'll get your license mailed back to you. Not sure if it's for every traffic offense or just based on officer discretion (i.e. you don't look like you're going to pay the ticket).

If you don't pay the ticket at all, your license will be suspended, even though it's out of state. Law enforcement computer networks straddle state lines.

This is actually occurring...I just ran across a seized license at work the other day.
 
For out of state tickets, just contest the thing by mail. Make sure to submit discovery requests for as many pertinent documents as you can. Send everything registered mail. Keep the hillbilly's busy for a while.

They'll probably dismiss it.
 
I have no problem with paying the $75, but I dont want it to count against my insurance. It was soo clearly 'hi your from out of state, give us your money'.

More than likely it was, "Hi, you were driving more than 10 mph over the limit, but I'll give you a ticket for only 10 mph over."

Why would being from out of state make it easier to give you a ticket? If anything, it'd make it harder to collect a fine.

Please tell me your kidding right? Small towns don't burn the locals, they earn revenue by ticketing people from out of town. Yes, I was speeding. But, I did get caught in a speed trap, where the speed changes back and forth over a couple of miles. Plus - I was keeping with the flow of traffic. But, I dnot want to argue 0 just want to know if people know how things like this work b/w states.
