Most officers have all their tickets written with the same court date. Get your court date changed and there is a good possibility the officer won't be there to testify - case dismissed. If he shows up just pay. Hiring a lawyer will always cost money, and didn't you already know that if you need to hire a lawyer you've already lost.

thats how it has always been for me. you plead down to a lesser charge, reduce/eliminate the points and pay a higher fine, lawyer or not.

Don't speed, obey the law.

Works like a charm, amazing how I'm 20 and pay less on insurance (driving a sports car no less) than someone who was a good 15 years older than me simply because of speeding tickets.

I better there was other issues involved then just traffic tickets, probably almost had to be an DUI or he had a more expensive car etc..

It's NH, it won't show up on your Mass license. I got a $500 ticket in NH in march and it never showed up on my MA license.

I dont see why people keep speeding when the price of gas is so outrageous right now, slow the fuck down, if enough do it maybe we can all do a small part and help get prices to start going down. I rarely go over 70 myself, back in my vegas run days I was doing over 100 as much as I could.

thats an expensive ticket for not driving all that fast... i got hit with a 70 in a 40 ticket not long ago and it's only costing me around 175$..it would be 127$ but i was doing more than 25 over.

NH has no sales tax or income tax. They have to make up for it somehow.

30 over in NH is must-appear - you'll be in front of a judge. It's also more expensive if you were speeding in a 65 zone vs an under-65 zone (ie 65 in a 40 is a lower fine than 90 in a 65).

Mandatory court appearance, I imagine? What'd you do?

Fight it. See if he has training using the radar gun or if it was calibrated properly. If not, then say it might be inaccurate.

I've never been pulled over, and I drive about 65k miles a year.

Heh - you want him to challenge NH State Police on radar training? Alrighty..

You could stop trying to exploit the system and just pay. Look at it this way. Tickets are basically a tax for being able to drive faster than other people.

Or he could fight it, win, and keep a clean driving record.

Or he could accept responsibility for speeding rather than trying to absolve himself of any responsibility at all.

All I hear in the OP is, "Waaaaa, waaaa...I was speeding behind another car that was speeding and we both got stopped. Now how can I get out of it?"

I find it really hard to believe you had no idea you were going too fast at 88 mph, I don't care what else is going on or what kind of car you are in.

88 in a 65 is a little hard to miss. I mean, I can understand 75 in a 65.....

If you get the ticket thrown out, they'll probably make you take a defensive driving class or something, but you'll still have to pay court costs. Since it's out of state, you'll save yourself hassel if you just pay the ticket.

As for your insurance, it will most likely go up unless you can get the state dept of safety not to report it, by going to the class.

OP,

Did his radar gun get you or the guy in front of him? Chances are if you were following someone, he got the guy in front.

*There is no proof you were doing 88*

States go after speeding and give them $350 fines because its revenue. $350 for going a bit over the speed limit is cruel and unusual punishment.

Fight it if you can, dont bother with a lawyer. Courts aren't that scary.

Fight it. You'll win if you go through these guys and it will only cost you about $100. There is no reason not to unless you feel morally obligated.

Just tell him you were trying to travel through time. You were driving a DeLorean, right?

(can't believe no one made that joke yet)

Yup, mandatory appearance. I was going faster than the average bear.

Because I get 55mpg even when I speed.

That said, I don't speed enough to get pulled over, so it's a moot point.

No, $15,000 per song for pirated material is cruel and unusual punishment. $350 for 88 in a 65 really isn't that bad. Now if it was for 5 over, I might agree.

ROFL! I was thinking the SAME exact thing!! Hahahahah.
Good job!

By the way, I just got hit with a speeding ticket today as well. I'm going to just pay it seeing as how it was a fluke accident. I rarely ever speed, but it was one of those days, and I was caught.

Yeah. I've learned that you should ALWAYS fight a speeding ticket, especially if it's a New York or New Jersey ticket! The DMV in those states will issue a separate "driver responsibility surcharge" that can be more than double the fine of the ticket itself.

Once you add the original fine, the DMV surcharge, and the insurance increase you're looking at over $1,000 in penalties over the next three years for a ticket that is 20+ MPH over the limit.

I do have a question though... If you wanted to tell New York where to stick their surcharge and not pay it, can they get your driver's license suspended in your home state? I'm sure that they would suspend your driving privileges in their state (which wouldn't bother me), but I'm not sure what their jurisdiction would be in other states.

Ticket Clinic

Not always the case anymore. My last ridiculous ticket (68 in a 65) I followed TicketAssassin's methods and I still got. Plus I emailed the guy and he never ever replied.
