hi guys....well I am trying to change the speeds of my new A. C. Ryan Blackfire fans using SpeedFan 4.33 under Windows XP, but nothing is happening for me :(...

I tried checking and unchecking the 'Automatic Fan Speed Control' thing, but that didnt work for me either...

From what I can guess, to change the speed of a fan, I only need to increase or decrease its percentage, and the change should be effective immediately (that is, i do not need to press any 'Apply' or 'OK' button to confirm the change)....

Also, SpeedFan seems to be detecting my board fine (Nforce 4, for DFI nF4 LanParty SLI-DR)...

The temperatures are being detected too...

For some fans, the RPM is showing as well in SpeedFan, but when i try to modify the speed, nothing happens...

Lastly, I also tried the latest motherboard configuration uploaded to their website for my motherboard, and using that, but this didnt work too....

What could I be doing wrong ?

Also, is there any other fan speed controlling program out there ? Whenever I google 'fan speed control', all I get is SpeedFan :p

thanx in advance...

ITE smart gaurdian available directly from DFI's website works very well. It's what I use on my DFI LP UT NF4 Ultra-D which is essentially the same board. It has adjustments for only teh 3 main fans but, that is all that can be controlled by the bios and therefore by any piece of software. It's a very small program that displays temps and voltages on it's main screen and has fan control under options.

to change the speed with speed fan:

1. the fan header has to support PWM (able to vary speeds). this won't be every fan plug, usually just cpu, nb and a "SYS" fan.

2. go to Configure -> Speeds -> Max and Min values, set minimum to less than 100%

3. go to Configure -> Temperatures -> uncheck fans you don't want associated with that temp reading
