SpeedFan giving incorrect temperatures

So I figured out my last problem with post code errors on my own, but this one has me stumped. I just reinstalled windows on a hard drive to transfer it to a new computer. The new setup is on a BFGRNF4U motherboard with a 3500+ Newcastle, and a PNY 7800GT. When I reinstalled SpeedFan to check on temperatures (getting ready to take my first shot at overclocking); it doesn't specify which temperature is for the CPU. It lists Temp1 ; Temp2; and some other nondescripts. One of these temperatures is a steady 127C, regardless of load. The other temperatures fluctuate.

So, what could cause this problem? Should I format and do another reinstall? When I switched the hard drive over, I just deleted the old installation of windows and reinstalled. I wanted to keep my files, and WoW updates and such. All ideas are welcome! Thanks for the input!

I've run into stuff like that b4 - my one comp I could turn it on and it would read the cpu temp at 65C right off the bat, and after it warmed up it wouldn't change. just ignore it

I have an A8N-SLI Premium in my system and am getting the exact same reading from two of the non-descripts. Can I also ignore those readings?

Also, I'm fairly new here, what's "ttt"?

Thanks,

s

Also, none of my readings are labeled 'CPU', is there a way to tell which is?

Speedfan only displays temperatures, it doesn't know what they represent. You can enter whatever you like as the ID for any temperature Speedfan is displaying.

See the page referenced earlier, and in particular the Configure/Temperatures Screen. On that screen, click the top temperature name, wait 2 seconds, click the temperature name again. In a couple of seconds the name display will change slightly (from a dashed box to a solid box) to indicate you may enter the new name. Enter "CPU" and you should be all set.

I'll fix the page to indicate the second click, sorry for the omission.
