I've been ripping a lot of MP3s lately with EAC and LAME encoding but I only run at 3.0x which takes quite awhile. I usually use my Aopen 12x10x32 (I believe) CDRW drive. My Pioneer slot loading 16x DVD drives usually only does 2.5x. My question is whether it's my drive that's causing these slow speeds, if it's just like that with the programs I'm using, or if it's the rest of my computer? The DAE for both these drives is listed as much higher then I'm getting, so I'm not sure if an upgrade in drives would help me (looking at a LiteOn 48x24x48 CDRW). I'm running an Epox 8K7A (AMD 761) with a 1.2ghz T-Bird and 512mb PC2100 DDR. Which upgrade would be the smartest to boost my speed, and how much would you think the boost would be? Thanks...
