At dslreports OOL speed test someone posted a NYC to Calif speed test of 999.9m/999.9m
What kind of line or lines carries that much speed
 
Optical carrier line, at least an OC-24 (assuming you're referring to mbps and not MB/s, there's a difference). Most likely a corporate connection with no one using it. My campus had dorms where each was connected to an OC-3 line, really good bandwidth.
