Speed problem with Ultra 160

I installed a Seagate ST318436LWV Drive in my system a few months ago. I have a Tekram DC-390U3W and a Adaptec 19160 (I purchased the Adaptec to see if this was the problem). No matter which SCSI controller I try my drive has poor performance. My DMA 66 drives are showing faster performance. Have I missed something? My SCSI bios detects the drive as correctly. If anyone has any idea please let me know.
