Speed of recording and quality

Hello Friends of the forum my questions are the following ones:
Does it influence the recording speed the the quality and duration of the dvd with the recorded movie, is it better not to record to very high speeds?
Does the lens of the burner of Dvd wear less recording quick?

The quality of the DVD Disc that is being recorded on is more important than the speed which as long as the data is verified on the disc written then I wouldn't worry about it. All disc will deteriorate eventually just like tapes ...
