speed fan/cpuid

I have a brand new vostro 400 core 2 duo with 2 gigs memory and 256 mb nvidia 8600gt vid card. I am running this at stock setting and just want to make sure that everything is ok on the system. when running spped fan under load what readings should i be looking at as i see there are several temp and core temps. As i said, just want to make sure all is good and what test is recommended for memory testing.
