I never played with the speech feature in vista but the feature in windows seven seems to work very well with not much training
I know it's kind of a gimmick but I'm wondering if it's possible to use it with windows media center. Might be cool to voice control it.
 
The voice control, if it works for Media Center, VLC, etc, would be a great thing for home automation if you can setup a microphone that can pick up your voices "computer, pause video" very... star trek like 🙂
