What is Self Talk?
Basically, it?s just how we think to ourselves.
Have you ever stopped and actually listened to yourself think?
There is both negative and positive self-talk.
Negative Self-Talk
It?s all about interpretation.
Take this comment for example: ?Your hair looks nice.? Usually a well-intended comment.
Some people might think to themselves ?My hair must usually look terrible.? This is negative self-talk, because you interpreted it negatively.
Ultimately leads to lower self-esteem and is very discouraging.

Positive Self-Talk
?Your hair looks nice.?
Through positive self-talk, you will see that as a genuinely nice compliment.
Positive self-talk, like this, keeps our self-esteem high.
It?s even possible to interpret ill-meant comments positively. ?You?re a bad driver.? Perhaps you are smiling inside and thinking to yourself ?Yes, I am a bad driver, maybe I should improve.? Positive self-talk will interpret that as a character trait you are happy living with.
Gender Differences
Do men and women have differences in self-talk? You bet.
?You?re such a sweetheart.?
Women are more likely to interpret that as a genuine compliment of their character.
Men are more likely to interpret that as being said for other reasons.
Stop and Listen to Yourself
Right now. What are you thinking?
If you are thinking ?Wow, this guy?s presentation is way better than mine, I?m going to get an F? you are probably feeling nervous. That?s natural.
Conclusion
Interpretation, self-talk, feelings. These all go hand-in-hand.
After an event is interpreted, your feelings are based off what you are thinking to yourself and telling yourself.

Does this all seem legit to you? Am I missing anything? I'll gladly cite you in the speech

Edit: Think of all of these topics in bullet points.

Could I possibly stretch this for 10 minutes?

UPDATE!

I gave my speech today and I was able to go at the perfect pace! I even made the audience laugh a few times, because I'm an awesome comedian!

Is each line a seperate bullet point?

If so, I'm pretty sure it's possible to give it in 10 minutes. I'm not sure what you'd say for every line, but it's your speech.

Maybe, add some extra lines, so that we know what each bullet point is.

10 minutes? you could probably BS around 6-7 minutes. Get some people involved and ask questions to the audience and make them answer. Then you can debate with them some or something. That is how i got through all of my communication classes through the years :)
