Speech class - Anyone actually like it?

This semester I got stuck with Speech class and am having to write a "most embarassing moment" speech to start the class off. I already hate it :| Who cares about my most embarassing moment? Do you think me standing up in front of a bunch of strangers talking about how I made an ass of myself is going to make me more comfortable talking in front of people? Yah, didn't think so :|

So, anyone actually enjoy speech class? How did all you anti-social AT'ers do in the class? ;)

Sounds like your "most embarrassing moment" is going to be when you try to give this speech, and you get up in front of the clas, nervous and shaking, sweating, and talking so quiet that the rest of the class can barely hear you :)

I gave a speech on how to install a hard drive, the history of the ford mustang, um, vouple other things. The class was really easy.

I liked speech class and the report you are talking about must be a standard thing with speech teachers.
You know you do not have to tell the truth dont you?
I made up a story about taking out a person for a meal at a fancy resturant and she belched and farted her way through supper and she done the deed and I was embarassed.
It has been many years ago but I remember the teacher being younger than me and she wore a mini skirt and liked to flash a little skin now and then, a wonderfull class.

I actually did pretty good in high school speech and felt comfortable standing up in front of classmates. Kinda weird standing up in front of people I don't know though...

we didn't have speech in high school, but it's required class in college. i didn't take public speaking cause i dread it, the other option was interpersonal communication. it's more group speaking. still had to speak in front of the class though. a coupel group presentations and a couple speeches by yourself. that class was fun though cause our teacher was cool and we had fun subjects to talk about.

That's what you should do, make your speech about giving your speech. That's what I would do definetely.

I always liked speech class.. I'm one of those weird people who doesn't mind speaking in front of a group. In college you get to do fun things like impromptu speeches, where you get 5 minutes to prepare..

The only way to get comfortable speaking in front of others, is to do it. And that skill is invaluable later in life.

And as for a topic... just make one up. ;)

Talk about how you were robbing a granny on Halloween, but suddenly saw 2 cops approaching and quickly grabbed your gun and shot both, only to find out they were just kids dressed up as cops.

Then ask the teacher if that comes close to being his/her most embarassing moment.

Well, just got back from class.

Things went a lot better than I had expected. I volunteered to go first just to get it over with and I did great through it. The class laughed a couple times so it was good. Everyone else's speech sucked though. Some guy talked about pissing on a mountain and some girl talked about how McDonald's food has more calories than food you make at home....?????????

Oh well, I'm pretty happy :)

I initially hated the class but came to love the way it gave me more confidence in real world situations. I liked it so much so, that I changed my major to communication.

Theories of persuasion, interpersonal communication, public speaking, etc are all classes that you will learn the most from and get the most out of in college.
