I think someone ordered that not too long ago.

I remember reading about it in the Off Topic forum. However, the person was just responding to another topic and I don't think that the reply had any specific information about the screen or the name of the screen.

I'm new to the forum too and also looking around for a monitor. I'm filtering my search based on inputs: I need Analogue (HD15), DVI-D and a video out (S Video or composite video). After a few days of searching, I came across the 19" Sceptre on NewEgg for $415 Sceptre X9g-Gamer 19 inch 1280x1024 12ms S-Video/RCA LCD Black. TigerDirect has better deal AR. Stats check out. Fast 12ms response time is a big plus. Anandtech has a good buyers guide for 19" LCDs Linky

Based on their guide, the important features check out. Haven't seen it in stores though. Only thing that worries me is the 1 year warranty (3 year is industry standard), but apparently they provide lifetime tech support, so you have support even after the warranty expires.

Specifications:
Panel Type: TFT Active Matrix LCD
Native Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Brightness: 400 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 500 : 1
Response Time: 12ms
View Angle: 140° / 140° (H / V)
Connectors: 15-pin mini D-Sub, DVI, Composite, S-Video
Features: Built-in stereo speakers (2W/channel)
Dimensions & Weight: 23.5" x 20" x 6" (Package: WxHxD) / 16.4 lbs
Manufacturer's Warranty / Phone No.: 1-Year limited / 800-788-2878

If you're in the market for a monitor with a 16ms response time, check out the Dell 2005FPW thread It has a 16:10 aspect ratio (very nice for movies), All the inputs I'm looking for and it's bright, no ghosting from what I hear. Price is steep at $749, but check the hot deals forum for regular 15-30% discounts on Dell monitors. I'm leaning towards the Sceptre because of the price and feature set, but I haven't read enough reviews/info about quality of the monitor.

ktburger... if you're interested in the viewsonic VP912b, but are concerned about the "reflective glass" screen, worry no more, because you can throw out every review about the reflective screen now.

The Viewsonic VP912B as of 2005 now has EVERY monitor ship with the standard matte screen and the glass is no-more. This is official, all new VP912Bs from Viewsonic in 2005 now ONLY ship with a standard matte... gone is the glass. You can check with Viewsonic themselves, they will confirm this.

Also, NewEgg.com is selling the monitor (currently for $550) and they are shipping with the matte screen from NewEgg as well. So if that was your only worry, that worry is now gone!
