Specs of my new rig and some questions....

Last night I finished building my new computer, here are the specs:
Enlight En-7237 250w
Asus CUSL2-C
Pentium III 866 Retail
256MB RAM
Pioneer DVD-115
Plextor 8x/4x/32x
ATi Radeon All-in-Wonder Retail
Netgear FA311
Philips Acoustic Edge
Boston Acoustic BA4800
IBM 75GXP 30GB
Maxtor 60GB (5400rpm)
Microsoft Intellimouse Optical
Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
Gateway EV700 17" monitor
Lexmark Z22
1.44MB Floppy (woohoo)
Windows 98SE

I have the IBM 75GXP set up as the master on the primary channel and the Pioneer set up as the slave on the primary channel. I have the Plextor set up as the master on the secondary channel with the Maxtor set as the slave. Is this the optimum setup?

I cannot see the Maxtor drive in Windows. The BIOS finds it correctly. Since it is not formatted, is this the reason I can't see it in Windows? How do I get it formatted?

Sometimes when rebooting it will stop after finding the drives, it tells me "Hardware monitor found an error. Enter the Power Setup menu for details. Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter setup." What kind of error should I be looking for? Why does it give this error?

What is the normal temperature of the 866 processor?

Any ideas?

dont know about optimimum, but if you put the hds on same chain, shouldnt it be foolproof way to get it detected?? at least you could get drives setup and then start swapping around.

Put the IBM as Master on 1 (the drive at the end of the cable)
Maxtor as Slave on 1 (the plug closer to the mb on same cable)
Faster CD as Master on 2 (again, put at end of cable)
Slower CD as Slave on 2 (again, plug in the middle of cable)

Obove is done for optimum performance of Master Drives.

Better make sure that both of the CD drives that are on the secondary channel are DMA enabled or your asking for direct CD copy issues due to IDE bus limitations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you put those CDRom's on the same chain as the 75GXP and Maxtor, they are both going to run at ATA/33, which would NOT be optimum.

One more thing. You should not have a hard drive slaved to a cdrom. This has been known to cause problems in detection. If the Maxtor drive fdisked? You should see it in windows as long as there is a partition that it can understand on it.
