Can someone please give me specs for a solid PC-based graphics workstation to do imaging with Adobe and Corel products. The particular parts I need to know are:

CPU type and speed
Memory (amount)
Motherboard
Graphics Card
Hard Disk

Cheers!

Graphic card: Matrox Parhelia
review

CONCLUSION

So, there you have it. My main motivation for doing this article was to show you a side of this product that may not have hit home with some of the earlier reviews. I never went out and bought this card thinking I would end up doing a review, but I felt compelled to do it after seeing all the cool things this card is capable of doing.

First of all, let's talk about the positives:

* Best 2D image quality.
* Unparalleled multi-head implementation.
* High quality antialiasing technology.
* Outstanding DVD playback.
* Surround Gaming technology transforms gaming experience.
* Performance, though not the fastest, is extremely good.
* Driver quality is outstanding.
* Best driver user interface to date.
* Excellent commitment by Matrox engineers to fix driver issues and garner Surround Gaming support.
* TV-out is excellent.
* I have never seen a better support operation than that of Matrox. I have personally filed bug reports on their website and every one of them was answered by a support representative.

I think you need to give us a price range to work with. Generally I think you'd be best off getting a Dell. I'm assuming that by Adobe/Corel you mean the usual suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, Pagemaker, Indesign etc. For reference I'm using a 1 year old Dell with a 1.7ghz Xeon cpu, 1.5gigs of ram, a 40gig hdd and an ATI firegl x1. All fairly old technology but it still holds up fairly well with all of the different applications (which include all the adobe products). The most expensive item in my setup is the new 23inch widescreen sony lcd ($2K+).

I'd like to give you prices but I didn't order any of the pieces. This is my work pc just fyi.
