My wife had an old TV cabinet made by Ethan Allen and that belonged to her grandma, but now she wants to shove a new TV into it -- the largest LED/LCD I can make work. The cabinet TV space is 20 inches high, a little over 29 inches wide, and about 15 inches deep. The ONLY TV I've found that will possibly work -- and give her a decent size screen -- is the Samsung UN32EH5300FXZA. The 4000 series of this TV will also work, but she insists on having wi-fi through the TV.

I've looked at many other brands, and I've found other 32-inch LCD/LEDs, but they are larger than 29 inches in width. The TV noted above seems to be the only one that has the wi-fi feature and will fit in the cabinet.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this model? Is there a different brand/model I'm missing that is a better performer?

Also, my neighbor told me to beware of where the panel is made, as some are made in "good" factories, and others, not so much. Any idea how I would know were the panel is made?

Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions as I think through this. :hmm:

The best advice I can give you is to shut down that wifi/smart tv nonsense. Outside sources are almost universally better at handling all of those features, especially in the lower end models. You can get a nice 32" "dumb" TV that will fit that space for half the price of that Samsung, and then spend $80 on a Roku or a WDLive and be much happier. It also lets you choose from a ton of different models of TVs to fit those size constraints.

From my experience, Samsung has had a really good quality of image over the past ~5 years, but the built in speakers tend to be total crap and a lot of people seem to be reporting dead/dying sets lately to make me weary enough to shy away from spending big bucks on a Samsung TV right now. It could be all hot air, but who knows? AV forums tend to have a lot of die-hard opinions about a lot of very subjective things, and these things can be blown out of proportion easily.
