Okay, my video card died two days before I had to play an online match for a computer game (BC2).

I scrambled to NewEgg and saw the GTX570, but none that were in stock. Other sights seemed to be similar.

So I went ahead and bought a GTX470 by EVGA just so I could have something to play the match (ended up losing anyway). Should I try to do the step-up program EVGA offers for something else, or is it not worth it?

I think this is not an "up-to-you" question because it's about bang for your buck. I just paid over 200 bucks for a card that to get about on-par performance with what I had upgraded from (2x GTX 260s).

Yep, i would go ahead and step up to the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 (015-P3-1580-AR) Just make sure you product is registered and start the step-up process.

It depends, 570 would be fine for most games at 1080p, the 580 is a 10% performance increase on average (i believe) so if that extra percentage is worth it to you then go for it, but if price is an issue the 570 is a fine card.

Yeah I mean we are talking another $80 to step-up to a 570, then another $150 from the 570 to a 580. $150 for a 10% increase?

Prices based on what I paid for on NewEgg for my 470, and then the prices EVGA lists on their website for the basic 570 and basic 580.

It depends on if you feel it is worth it. I myself (because of budget issues) would go with the 570
