So in response to the question of what Asus A8AE-LE Mobo can handle, the manufacturer said that it's best to stick with a 400W PSU.

Now, they also said that it can handle no more than these amperages on the rails:

3.3V/15A 5V/20A 12V/17A -12V/0.8A

BUT!

Text

is a 400W power supply with higher Amperage outputs per rail.

Can it still work with this mobo? I know this might be a simple question, but I'm really curious about this.

Thank you

Sounds like they don't train their tech support guys on this topic.

Current ratings are an indication of the maximum the supply can deliver. That is, the supply will deliver a current appropriate to the load, up to its maximum ratings.

Maybe you misunderstood them; hopefully because that information is completely false.

Your components are only going to draw they power that they need. As far as your hardware is concerned it could be a 500 watt PSU or a 5000watt PSU it's going to function and look exactly the same to your hardware.

That Forton-Source is a great choice btw.

Hi, Current draw is directly dependent on the device being powered. It would draw no more current if the PSU was 1200 Watts. Some one is pulling your leg. Jim

That Fortron PSU is more than adequate for any system short of SLI w/ top end vid cards. Ratings for a mobo should be MINIMUM ratings. IAC you have two 15A rails on the fortron, neither of which would hit over 17A for anything but a short term load.
