Specific adware question

Somehow someone (probably my computer illiterate mother) allowed "Power Scan" to be installed on the family PC in the living room. I really dont want to see a porn-sweeper load up every time it boots. Adaware fails to remove it. The windows Add/Remove program utility doesnt show it. I d/l-ed Spybot, and it didnt take care of it either (although, I cant update the defs for Spybot for some reason).

Anyone ever have to deal with this sh!t? It gives you a button to remove the software, but all that does is load an IE window that gets a 404 error. Verrrrrrrrrrry helpful.

BTW, there was a lot of new sh!t adware that was on this PC that I just noticed tonight, and while I got most of it, this wont come out. I mention this just to say that other program's remnants may be affecting this.

PS: I also see a new search bar... how do I disable this from loading in IE 6? If necessary I'll bring home the IE removal tool from work, but I'd prefer to finish screwing around with this tonight.

Any specific names of programs that are installed, Google them. Chances are someone else has had the same problem, and can you'll be able to find places that tell you how to uninstall them. A lot of times, the company responsible for that junk will have an uninstaller as well.

Well, like I said, they provide a remove button, but it attempts and fails to load a window in IE.

EDIT: will try Google.

Well, motherf***er, the IE page now loads, and I downloaded the file they provided... but does it help or hurt... time for some Googling
