Specialized Sirrus Comp 2001 - Good bike?

Since my neighbor agreed to buy my mountain bike I'm getting a hybrid / street bike to replace it.. I was looking at the REI / Novara Big Buzz at $795 (COOL looking bike, DISC brakes!), or the Cannondale Bad Boy.. however when I went to my local bike shop (been going there for years) the guy showed me a Sirrus Comp that he would sell to me for $550..that's like 40% off retail. Haven't been able to find any reviews for this bike so I was hoping someone here could help me out.

you will never, ever have a problem with a specialized. i have ridden specialized for over 6 years and yet to have a problem at all, frames are strong as hell, take a beating incredibly.
get the specialized, for sure....although u might want to give us some of the components so we can tell u for sure!

Stats:
Body Geometry grips / saddle
Shimano Deore LX derailleur
Ritchey comp hubs

From what I've heard the Ritcheys suck so I'm going to replace them ASAP. Any suggestions?
