Washington Times commentary:
"We Albanians are a nation of freedom fighters who know something about living under oppression," Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano wrote in a letter to President Bush. "That is why we wholeheartedly support the American-led effort to free the people of Iraq. And though we are a small country with a small military, we are proud to stand side by side with our allies in the fight to end the reign of terror in Baghdad."
*chuckles* You could learn a thing or two from them, conjur.

Albania, seeking eventual membership in NATO, has close ties to the U.S. military. It backed the American-led campaign in Iraq, where it has deployed a small unit of 71 troops. Albania also has peacekeeping contingents in Afghanistan and in nearby Bosnia.

Would you prefer to go back to the ages of isolationism and keep you head in the sand.

The US impacts the world and the world impacts us.
What was thought to work 80 years ago will not even be considered remotely feasible today.

And that is the U.S's responsibility how?

I am not saying that we have a responsibility.

I am stating that isolationism will NOT work.

There are too many economic ties and jealious people/countries that want to even a score that could have happened tommorrow of 100 years ago.

Some are upset at what our wealth and freedom represent and the implications that we could stop their own ambitions if desired.

Unless we seal the country up cleanly & completely and pull every American back inside out borders, than "sh1t" will happen.
If they can not get to us inside out borders, they will attack Americans outside out borders.

In order to remove and protect against any/all threats, we have to not allow anything in via air, land or sea.

That will strangle our economy and every-one else.

This is getting off the subject of the original thread, therefore I will not respond further.

I never said anything about isolationism. Not sure why you're on such a rant about it.

All I'm saying is Albania was kissing up to the U.S. for a better shot at NATO membership. This isn't any surprise. Turkey was holding out for *billions* in support and other countries joined the "coalition" in return for favorable support for joining NATO. Bribing countries to go to war over intelligence where doubts were *dismissed* at the top is beyond egregious.

So you think we put thousands of American troops to get Albania to send 71 troops to Iraq? Get YOUR head out of the sand.
