I have been using a KVM to switch between my webserver and home PC for several months now. It is a IOgear CS-102U with connections for a USB Mouse and USB Keyboard. It has one USB line ea. that runs to the computers. I got a MS Wireless Desktop that has a USB connector for the mouse and PS2 connection for the keyboard. To make it work, I picked up a PS2-USB connector that allows me to plug the keyboard into the USB KVM. I have never been able to get the special keys to work until now,

I was trying to install Linux and had to use a PS2 keyboard direct and unplug the PS2 connector to the KVM. I was surprised to see my keyboard still worked even though disconnected (the mouse plug was still connected). I was even more shocked to see that when I rebooted, I no longer got the "keyboard not detected" error, and that when XP loaded, I had full use of my special keys on the wireless keyboard. Any idea as to why this worked now and not before?
